Terms of use
These terms apply to the Ephemeria app and this website. By creating an account, you accept them.
1. Who runs Ephemeria
Ephemeria is published by EPHEMERIA (see the legal notice). Contact: support@ephemeria.app.
2. Who can use Ephemeria
- You must be 18 or over. Your date of birth is declared at sign-up; an account under 18 is refused, and deleted if we learn of it later.
- You must be a student at an institution covered by Ephemeria with a valid university email address.
- One account per person, in your own name, with accurate information.
3. Your account
You sign in with a code sent to your university email. Keep access to that mailbox and never share the code. You are responsible for what is done from your account. If you think it has been compromised, email support@ephemeria.app.
4. Zero tolerance
We do not allow objectionable content or abusive behaviour. In practice:
- No harassment, bullying, threats or hateful content.
- No discrimination based on origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other ground.
- No sexual, violent or shocking content; never an intimate image of someone without their consent.
- No impersonation and no fake accounts.
- No posting photos or information about someone without their agreement, and no disclosure of personal details (address, phone number, etc.).
- No spam, scams, or sale of illegal goods, weapons or drugs.
- No false attendance declarations and no ticket resale.
- Nothing illegal.
Content that breaks these rules is removed. Accounts that break them can be suspended or deleted, without notice in serious cases. The community guidelines explain these principles in more detail.
5. Reporting, blocking, moderation
- Every post, message, listing, event, photo and profile can be reported from inside the app. You can block any other student.
- If you do not have an account, you can report illegal content to support@ephemeria.app, stating where the content is, why you believe it is illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you are acting in good faith.
- We review reports diligently. When we remove content or restrict an account, we tell the person concerned what was decided, why, on what ground (the law or these terms) and whether the decision was automated.
- You can appeal a decision within 6 months by emailing support@ephemeria.app. A member of the team reviews the decision.
- If content suggests a threat to someone’s life or safety, we inform the authorities.
- An automatic filter blocks certain terms at the moment of posting. It is not perfect and does not replace reporting.
6. Your content and photos
What you post stays yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, free licence to host, reproduce and display it in Ephemeria to the people it is meant for, for as long as it is in the service (and in our technical backups). We do not use it for advertising.
You are responsible for what you post: only send what you have the right to send. For a photo where a person can be recognised, make sure they agree. A person who recognises themselves can hide the photo in one tap in the album, or ask for its removal at privacy@ephemeria.app.
Nebula and La Minute photos are sealed until 11:00, once the event is over, then published together. La Minute photos can only be taken with the app’s camera.
7. Events, attendance and memories
- Events are organised by students or associations. Ephemeria is not the organiser and does not control how they run.
- For each event, the organiser chooses how attendance is confirmed: ticket scan at the door, or self-confirmation by you, from the start time until 24 hours after the announced end time. Self-confirmation is a declaration on your honour: declaring false attendance is forbidden.
- Buying a ticket or taking a photo is not confirmation of attendance.
- Confirmed attendance can become a star in your Sky and open the event’s album to you.
8. Tickets
- Tickets are sold by the organising association, which is the seller. Ephemeria provides the tool and takes no commission; no fee is added to the displayed price.
- You pay by card, or Apple Pay where your device supports it, on a Stripe payment page. The price and currency are the event’s, fixed when you order.
- One ticket per student per event. Your place is held for 30 minutes while you pay. Your ticket is delivered in the app as soon as Stripe confirms the payment.
- If the payment succeeds but no valid ticket can be issued, you are refunded in full, automatically. A duplicate payment is refunded automatically; your valid ticket stays valid.
- Refunds: full refunds only, decided by the association (event cancelled or its own decision). They go back to the card that paid and cancel the ticket.
- While a payment dispute with your bank is open, the ticket is suspended.
- Transfers: free, to a verified student on the same campus who does not already hold a ticket for the event, until the event starts. The old QR code is cancelled immediately. A transfer moves the right to enter, not attendance history. If the event is refunded later, the money goes back to the card of the person who paid; the app reminds you before you send a transfer.
- Ticket resale is forbidden.
- Under Article L221-28 12° of the French Consumer Code, buying a ticket for an event on a specific date carries no right of withdrawal.
- Questions about an event, a ticket or a refund go to the association, whose contact is shown on the ticket.
9. Marketplace, housing and exchanges between students
Ephemeria connects students. We are not a party to sales, exchanges or rentals between students and we do not verify listings. Only offer lawful goods and services, and be careful when meeting someone or paying.
10. The service
Ephemeria is free for students. We develop the features over time and may interrupt the service for maintenance. You benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (Articles L224-25-1 and following of the French Consumer Code).
11. Suspension and termination
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete my account), and download your data first. We can suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms or the law, giving reasons unless the law forbids it; the decision can be appealed as described in section 5.
12. Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
13. Personal data
Our privacy policy explains how we process your data.
14. Changes
We may change these terms. For a significant change, we tell you in the app at least 15 days before it takes effect, except for urgent legal or security reasons. If you disagree, you can delete your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If there is a problem, email support@ephemeria.app first. If no solution is found, you can use the consumer mediator free of charge: CM2C (Centre de la médiation de la consommation de conciliateurs de justice), 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France — www.cm2c.net. You can also go to the competent courts under the ordinary rules.
