Ephemeria
Who can join?
Students aged 18 and over, with the university email address of a school open on Ephemeria. Schools open one after another.
Is Ephemeria only for parties?
No. A party, a chess tournament, a talk, a match, a trip, a surf weekend: any event on your campus has its place, whether it lasts two hours or three days. When you sign up, you list your interests, and your school’s communities form around them.
My school isn’t there yet. What can I do?
Try signing up with your university address anyway: the app notes your school’s domain, without your address or your name, so we know where to open next. Your association can also email support@ephemeria.app.
Is it free?
Yes. No subscription, no in-app purchase, no ads. A paid event costs the price the association sets, with no Ephemeria commission.
Which phones?
iPhone and Android, in French, English and Spanish. The app is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
Why “Ephemeria”?
An ephemeris is the table that tells where the sun, the moon and the stars will be on each date. The app computes the real sky of each event, and keeps what would otherwise be ephemeral.
Events and tickets
How is my attendance confirmed?
Depending on the event, your ticket is scanned at the door, or you confirm you were there yourself in the app, from the start of the event until 24 hours after it ends. The organiser chooses. Buying a ticket or taking a photo is not enough.
Does Ephemeria use my location?
Not for attendance. Location is only used while the app is open, to centre the map on you; it is stored only if you choose to share a place. Never in the background.
How do I pay for a ticket?
By card, or with Apple Pay where your device supports it, on Stripe’s secure payment page. We never receive your card details. Your ticket arrives as soon as the payment is confirmed.
I can’t make it. What about my ticket?
Transfer it for free to another verified student on your campus who doesn’t have a ticket for that event yet, until it starts. The old QR code is cancelled at once. Resale is not allowed.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are decided by the organising association, whose contact details are on your ticket. They are always in full and go back to the card that paid. A ticket for an event on a set date carries no right of withdrawal.
I was charged twice.
The duplicate payment is refunded automatically and shows as “refund in progress”; your ticket stays valid. If that isn’t what you see, email support@ephemeria.app.
Photos and memories
Why 11:00?
It is the only fixed hour in Ephemeria. Late enough for everyone to have slept, early enough for the memory to still be fresh. At 11:00, once the event is over, its photos are published together; it is also when constellation names are sealed.
Who sees an event’s photos?
Only people allowed to open its album, from 11:00 once the event is over. Every photo carries its author’s name.
I’m in a photo and I don’t want to be.
In the album, the “this is me, hide it” gesture hides it at once and blocks it during the review. Without album access, email privacy@ephemeria.app: we review the request within 72 hours. No face recognition is used.
Are my photos sent automatically?
No. After the event, the app finds the photos on your phone taken during the event, but nothing is sent until you tap “send”. Metadata, including GPS location, is removed before upload.
I didn’t get the Minute.
That’s normal: it only happens at free-entry events, once per event. Missing it costs nothing and doesn’t change your attendance.
Can people see how many stars I have?
No. Your Sky shows no totals and is never compared with anyone else’s. The Class Sky is anonymous by design: nobody can find themselves in it.
Account and data
What data is collected?
What the app needs to work, and one usage measure only: one line per day you open the app. No ads, no trackers, no analytics SDK. The details are in the privacy policy.
How do I download my data?
In the app: Settings → Your data → Download my data.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Delete my account. Without the app, follow the steps on the Delete your account page.
How do I report content or a person?
Every piece of content has a Report button, and every profile can be blocked. The community guidelines explain what isn’t accepted and what happens next.
Associations
How do we sell tickets?
Your association sells through its own Stripe account, with no Ephemeria commission. At launch, we link that account ourselves: it is all explained on the Associations page.
